Tesla is recalling 1,096,762 cars in the United States. Windows may injure occupants when closed.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and car manufacturer Tesla have launched a recall campaign for all chains. 1,096,762 vehicles are currently affected.
In damaged vehicles, the automatic window regulator may not recognize an obstruction between the frame and the window. If a window is closed and you fail to detect any obstruction, this condition can increase the risk of injury to the occupant.
These models are affected by recall in the United States:
- Tesla Model S From production period 01/19/2021 to 09/16/2022
- Tesla Model 3 From the production period 02/07/2017 until 09/14/2022
- Tesla Model X From the production period from February 12, 2021 to September 16, 2022
- Tesla Model Y From the production period from November 26, 2019 to September 14, 2022
Tesla will push an over-the-air (“OTA”) firmware update for affected vehicles at no cost to improve calibration of the vehicle’s automatic window reversing system. The subpoena can be found at NHTSA under case number 22V-702.
