A missing helicopter has launched a large-scale search in Italy. There was no trace of the plane for two days. The helicopter was finally found on Saturday – and with it the bodies of all seven passengers.
Italian rescue workers have found the missing helicopter in the Apennine Mountains in the Emilia-Romagna region. The mountain rescue team wrote on Twitter on Saturday afternoon that the site is located on Monte Kosna (2,120 metres).
“Everything was found burned”
The ANSA news agency, quoting local aides, reported that the bodies of the seven people had been found. “We had the coordinates and drove to the location. An Air Force soldier said in a video posted by the army on Twitter, ‘We found everything that was burned there.’ The location was in a hard-to-reach area in a valley. Rescuers will have to walk there.
The helicopter consisted of seven people – the Italian pilot, four Turks and two Lebanese. He disappeared without a trace from radar on Thursday on his way from Lucca in Tuscany to the northern Italian region of Veneto. It was not initially clear what caused the helicopter crash. (SDA/chs)
