Climate activists from the Extinction Rebellion group closed several entrances to an airport for private jets in the English county of Hampshire on Saturday.
They protested flights with private jets, which they said were responsible for half of global greenhouse gas emissions in air traffic, and demanded a similar ban from the British government.
A spokesperson for the most active said:
“As the world’s heads of state and government gather in Glasgow for the COP26 climate summit this month, protesters are calling on the obscenely wealthy elite of celebrities, wealthy people and businessmen to refrain from private flights.”

Protesters also accused the airport operator of “green washing” after the airport operator announced that it would switch to sustainable aviation fuel made from non-recyclable household waste.
