0:4 vs Eckernförde – Oldenburger SV drops to 14th place

Oldenburg. In short order, Oldenburger SV had to do without goalkeeper Daniel Junge, who had to stop warming up due to severe pain in his foot. Instead, Jesper Goertz moved to center forward alongside Freddie Kaps. There were few scoring chances throughout the game, so a goalless draw at halftime made sense.

However, the visitors of Eckernförde came out of the break better and more alert. After a long throw-in, it took so long for the Oldenburg defense to correct the situation that David Wagner was completely upright at the far post and was able to advance past Eckernförde (47). After 180 seconds, Wagner took advantage of a setup error and paved the way for an away win with a double (50).

Oldenburg is not giving up after the initial decision

Oldenburg then missed the goal by just centimeters when Caps’ shot barely bounced off the goal line. The Oldenburgers’ attacking efforts often failed as a result of poor decisions, so they ultimately lacked the determination to get close again.

With a counterattack a quarter of an hour before the end, ESV rose to 3-0 through Leon Abetz and thus secured the final decision (74′). The OSVers did not give up after that in front of around 50 spectators – but the final act of the game was for the visitors once again. Unfortunately, the ball jumped into the hands of OSV defender Robin Schmidt. Malte Clausen successfully converted the penalty kick to make the final score 4-0 (87th place).

Coach Faulk: “The commitment and passion were right”

Despite the clear defeat, OSV coach Kevin Falk did not blame his young team (six U-23 players): “The commitment and passion were on point today. The score is very high, but we cannot explain it. These mistakes we make are punished harshly in the league!”

Next week, Oldenburger SV will travel to the Flensburg Fjord for an away match. On Saturday (September 30, 3pm) we will be the guests of the regional league reserve team of SC Weiche Flensburg.
