However, the visitors of Eckernförde came out of the break better and more alert. After a long throw-in, it took so long for the Oldenburg defense to correct the situation that David Wagner was completely upright at the far post and was able to advance past Eckernförde (47). With a counterattack a quarter of an hour before the end, ESV rose to 3-0 through Leon Abetz and thus secured the final decision (74′). The OSVers did not give up after that in front of around 50 spectators – but the final act of the game was for the visitors once again. Unfortunately, the ball jumped into the hands of OSV defender Robin Schmidt. Malte Clausen successfully converted the penalty kick to make the final score 4-0 (87th place).

Coach Faulk: “The commitment and passion were right”

Despite the clear defeat, OSV coach Kevin Falk did not blame his young team (six U-23 players): “The commitment and passion were on point today. The score is very high, but we cannot explain it. These mistakes we make are punished harshly in the league!”
