Free-flowing piers, space for events: this is what the new park in Shenzli should look like
The old horse racing track should be gone, but you should be able to swim. The jury decided what the new green space in Moutins should look like. The city council will decide soon.
As early as 2018, Muttens Town Council decided that the former racetrack in Schänzli should become a park. It is now known how the municipality imagines this green area of 74,000 square meters between the motorway and Pierce. The jury unanimously selected the “Aqua Vera” project as the winner of a study contract, the municipality announced Wednesday.
Birs is released from her current corset, she should meander freely. There should be opportunities for bathing, but also sanctuaries for fish. A bar and area for small events are planned north of the park, towards the new planned Hagnau district.
Funded by adjacent development
Towards the south, visitor use should be more infrequent, but more space should be set aside for nature. The Vogelholzli Conservation Area will remain in place. To the east, there is a wall that blocks highway noise. On May 25, the Municipal Council will present details of the winning project at a media event.
As early as June 13th, the municipal council is due to decide whether to follow this up with a planning loan of nearly half a million francs. The construction of the park is funded largely by infrastructure fees from the Hagnau estate.
