“Melbourne or nothing”: Ex-HSV professional heads to Australia

For many, Australia is still a land of venomous animals, sharks and surfers. Cricket and rugby in particular dominate the sporting landscape “down under”. But football is growing. With former HSV professional Dolke Arslan, a seasoned first division professional is now moving to the island continent. This was announced by Melbourne City FC on Thursday. German-Turkish signed two years. “We are very pleased that Tolke has signed with us. He has a winning mindset and we look forward to welcoming him to Melbourne,” said Melbourne FC’s sporting director Michael Patrillo.

Arslan is looking forward to the new experience. I remember an inner voice telling me, “One day I’ll play in Australia when I’m still playing for Besiktas in Turkey.” I have three children and as a family we decided to do something new after Udinese. Now I am very happy with my decision to come to Australia. For me it’s ‘Melbourne or nothing.’” Perhaps Dolke Arslan can take some tips on living in the southern hemisphere from former colleague Nikolai Müller.
