12/29/2023 | (rsn) – Felix Gall (Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale) is very motivated and ambitious in his fifth professional season. The Austrian Athlete of the Year also announced to the APA news agency that he wants to return to the top ten in the next Tour de France.

“The focus is the overall standings. “Eighth place is the standard you want to improve on,” said Gall, who was making his first Tour appearance this year. The East Tyrol driver won the Queen’s Stage in Courchevel, finished second in the penultimate section in Le Markstein, and On eighth place in the final standings.

The 25-year-old, who is currently in his home country after a five-week training camp in Spain, said that in his third year at AG2R, he will take on the role of team captain for the first time. The 2015 World Junior Champion, who recently began relying on the services of a psychological coach, will begin the season in the Andalusia Tour in mid-February. This is followed by Paris-Nice, the Tour of the Basque Country and the classic Ardennes Tour of Liège-Bastogne-Liège.

As training for the Tour, Gal will participate in the Critérium du Dauphine, which he prefers this time to the Tour de Suisse. “The leaders are all actually driving the Dauphine,” explained the Austrian, who then wants to check out some stages of the Tour and complete a high-altitude training camp.
