The two co-contenders stumble at the start of the Olympic soccer tournament.
Participating in the competition, Spain had to accept the damper’s right at the start of the men’s Olympic football tournament. The Iberians did not get past a goalless draw against Egypt in their Group C first match at Sapporo Dome.
Coach Luis de la Fuente’s team came with several European Championship participants, including striker Dani Olmo. Meanwhile, Barcelona defender Oscar Mengueza and Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos were injured. Spain will meet Australia in the second group match next Sunday.
France with a swatter 1: 4
Even France did not start the Olympic adventure properly. Sylvain Ripoll’s team went 1:4 against Mexico at the diving station. Andre-Pierre Gignac was worried about the only French target.
