Former heavyweight boxing champion Wladimir Klitschko has warned of a nuclear disaster if he fights at Ukraine’s Zaporizhia nuclear power plant. “The world should know that if it explodes, it will be a Fukushima or Chernobyl on several scales. This should not happen,” the younger brother of Vitaliy Klitschko, the mayor of Kyiv, said on Times Radio on Sunday.
Gunfire continued around the power plant occupied by Russian occupation troops, Klitschko said. In addition, it is not clear how the Ukrainian specialists are doing, they are still at the nuclear plant and in the hands of the Russians. “It threatens the world,” Klitschko said.
Regarding the possibility of negotiations between Ukraine and Russia, Klitschko said that the first step would be the complete withdrawal of Russian troops. “We have been fighting since 2014 for our territorial integrity and to be part of the free world and the European Union,” the 46-year-old said.
