Bildstocker Platz Villingen: stadium and recreational facility to be redesigned on a large scale – Villingen-Schwenningen and surrounding area

VS-Villingen – The stadium in the heart of the southern town of Villingen looks desolate, dilapidated and unattractive. In fact, this less visible condition is also a thorn in the side of the city administration – so the Office of Civil Engineering and Responsible Green Space is proposing a comprehensive renovation.

The playground equipment has already been removed

Also because – according to technical committee documents next Tuesday – the playing equipment there has been dismantled to ensure road safety. In addition, population growth shows that the number of children in VS will increase.

The fact that the focus on Bildstockerplatz is also due to the Südstadtschule in the immediate vicinity. Because the playground and recreational facility are used by students there, among other things, during their recess.

Areas for all ages

Planning began with the Südstadtschule Administration and the Office for Youth, Education, Integration and Sports. In the northern district, and therefore directly adjacent to the school and Vom-Stein-Straße, a play and entertainment area will be created specifically for the target group of primary school children. According to the administration, several climbing, balancing, and natural wood nest swings are planned for the disabled. Plus: enough room to run and have fun during breaks as well as sitting.

According to the commission’s documents, a new multifunctional meeting point for all age groups has been proposed for the Bildstocker Platz Center. Specifically, this includes a picnic table, table tennis table and various outdoor recreational equipment such as a cross trainer and a fitness cycle made of natural wood for strength and endurance training. In addition, nine trees will be planted here.

Planned site visit

The southern district, adjacent to the Herdstraße, is intended for children of kindergarten age. There you’ll find: a spacious sandy play area, a mini whirlpool, a mini adventure course with balancing sticks and boulders as well as a contemporary play mix made of natural wood for climbing, sliding or free play.

According to the city administration, work is scheduled to begin as early as next fall, with the remodeling completed next year. Before that, the city plans to hold an information session with a field visit. The city gave the total costs 330,000 euros – if the technical committee approves the project at its next meeting.
