The ski season will begin in Sölden, Austria, in a few weeks (23/24 October). But our skaters’ neighbors are already knocking: Karl Schmidhofer, president of the Austrian Ski Association, is stepping down after just three months! This official announced on Thursday.
The reason for the resignation of Schmidhofer – Nicole Schmidhofer’s uncle and former ÖVP member – has nothing to do with the circumstances of the skating federation. Rather, it is a “hard blow to the family” that leaves him with “no other choice”.
The son suffered a stroke
Schmidhofer’s 35-year-old son had a stroke. “Now I want to devote all my energy to the family,” explains the seemingly obvious father, who has moved to Salzburg, at the press conference. Schmidhofer’s son became a father soon after he had a stroke.
The decision to resign was not easy for him. Now ÖSV has to find a successor. Vice President Roswitha Stadlooper will take over the business on an interim basis. (WST)
