It appears that professional footballer Silas Wamanjituka played for Stuttgart for two years under a false identity.

The Congolese recently revealed to VfB that he had become a “victim of the machinations of his former players’ agent” and that Wamangituka was not his real name. The Bundesliga team announced on Tuesday.

Therefore his proper name is Silas Katumba Mvumba. Perhaps the ward’s date of birth was also wrong. According to VfB information, Silas was born on October 6, 1998 in Kinshasa, and therefore today he is 22 years old, that is, exactly one year older than originally assumed.

VfB is in contact with the German Football League (DFL) and the German Football Association (DFB) in this regard. Swabians don’t fear the consequences for a professional. According to a legal assessment of the facts, one assumes that “Silas had a valid and continuing license to play”. In addition, VfB expects Silas to gain new eligibility to play under his real name in due course.

“I have lived in constant fear for the past few years and have been very worried about my family in Congo,” Silas said. “It was a difficult step for me to reveal my story.”

The fake identity is said to have been obtained through an agent of a former player from Silas. He left the 19-year-old to live with him in Paris and, according to Silas, changed his name and date of birth. VfB believes that this happened, on the one hand, to cut off the striker’s connection with his training club in Congo, and on the other hand, increased Silas’ dependence on the agent – who could now be blackmailed. – d b a
