WoW Patch 9.2: Developer On Release, T sets, Grind

After patch 9.1.5, which has been so positively received in the community, it seems that the developers at Blizzard don’t want to wait too long and continue riding this wave. And soon after that they published the announcement and a lot of information about WoW Patch 9.2 right after that. In this context, we also had the opportunity to speak directly to the developers and ask them about one detail or the other.

Naturally, they’ve kept a low profile on some of the themes and, for example, haven’t revealed anything about the progression of the additional story or what will happen in the upcoming expansion. In the case of other subjects, on the other hand, they have not yet been able to go into details because they are not yet sure if and how certain things will be implemented. On other topics, Jeremy Wessel spoke enthusiastically about the upcoming content.

By the way, they were both visibly relieved to finally be able to talk about it. Because they also know very well that players are eagerly waiting for new content. Therefore, it must be sent to the PTR quickly so that the team can get feedback. Because it seems, at least outwardly, that the new approach of “listening to the players” has been applied more aggressively. Feasel and Hight emphasized at every opportunity that they wanted feedback on the different systems and kept asking us how we imagine something or what we’d like. If you meet bosses with twelve million PTR skills in the near future, it’s our fault.

Important interview information

Since a lot of PR is presented in such an interview, we decided not just to applaud what was said here, but to summarize the most important information for you. If that’s not enough, you can find the full interview on the second page of the article.

  • The designers in particular had a lot of fun creating the new Zereth Mortis area. As we begin in a completely unknown Tarrain, they enjoyed many liberties that they benefited from.
  • The warden will be the last boss in the new raid shrine of the first. Anduin will also be one of the bosses. A total of 11 bosses are waiting for us. It’s the end of a long story in the world of WoW (Buy now 14.99 € ) And we want to leave Shadowlands in better shape than we found it. Then a new chapter in the story begins.

  • Zereth Mortis is much larger than Korthia and will include different biomes.
  • Our main task will be to advance through the first Chriffren, with which more and more content will be unlocked in the form of daily newspapers, global quests, side quests, mini-games and elite regions.
  • Thanks to our advances in ciphers, we will gradually be able to understand the language of the former.
  • For example, as we progress, we will be able to use a second Legendary. Additionally, we can later get T-Set rewards outside of the raid by upgrading other items with the given reward – provided we’ve made enough progress in Zereth Mortis.
  • According to the developers, the layer combinations are so cool that they can only be reserved for active attackers. You can get the selected items faster, but everyone else will be able to earn them too.

  • Zerith Mortis will once again contain a type of grind: cosmic dust. However, this is available from various sources. You don’t want to push players into the kind of content they don’t want. And then there will be many different sources. Plus, great content is only great if you don’t have to repeat it over and over for a long period of time.
  • Sylvanas is playing a big role in the upcoming update. The developers have not yet revealed what it will be.
  • Patch 9.2 and the accompanying ending of the story chapter are intended to tie many strands of loose knowledge into a solid, understandable knot. With this, the developers want to create a satisfying end to a long journey.
  • Tazavesh will be split into two parts and made available as M+ and Heroic. However, there are no more dungeons with Patch 9.2.
  • Just like in Korthia, the developers are planning to let new players skip several of the old campaigns so they can play with their Zereth Mortis friends right away. However, all of these campaigns will still be playable if newcomers want to try them out later, or even live.
  • When it comes to raid difficulty, the developers have many different matrices to consider. The most important thing is not how often bosses fall in any period, but all players experience consistent progression.
  • In patch 9.2, players will see a massive increase in their player power. With the second legendary bonuses and powerful bonuses, as well as of course the increased level of the item.

  • The developers talk a lot about how to develop raid bosses in such a way that players do not know every little thing in advance. However, this is not possible due to the necessary PTR tests and YouTube videos.
  • Jeremy Wessel and John Hyte confirmed Eon Hazicosta’s statement that there was nothing sacred left in Wow. Everything should be discussed and questioned. Even such things as the categorical line between the Horde and the Alliance, which were protected by almost religious fervor, are discussed today. But this does not mean that it should be abolished.
  • The group size of 20 players remains in Mythic Raids for the time being. It is very difficult to balance the distinct heads of different group sizes. But this topic is also discussed internally and feedback is gladly received.
  • WoW so a video game has the great advantage that, unlike a book or a movie, it can be permanently adapted. And just as players change over time, so will WoW with them. Things that were fine in the past may not be so later in the face of changes in society.
  • Regarding the release date of Patch 9.2, the developers did not want to express themselves directly and therefore put themselves under pressure. They want all important content to be playable without barriers before PTR starts and will notify players of the release a week or two in advance. Especially when it’s near potential holidays so everyone can plan well.
