It was snowing outside when the Noasis cover band played at the Tan Hill Inn in Yorkshire (England) on Friday evening. Then it got too warm for three days for the 61 visitors to the gallery. Because a heavy snowstorm fell on the attendees to the point that they were unable to get out of the bar. Most of them were only finally able to leave on Monday.
The guests and their favorite band were locked in for three days. The Tan Hill Inn is located at 528 meters above sea level – making it the highest pub in Great Britain. In addition to the ice, overturned electricity pylons have also created a dangerous outdoor situation, according to British media.
Snow ice came to the rescue on Monday noon
The snow plow “finally worked” on Monday, Nichola Townsend, owner of Tan Hill’s Inn, told the PA agency late on Monday. Of the 61 guests, 59 left after getting their cars out of the ice. The two remaining guests wanted to spend another day and then leave on Tuesday.
The bar managers set up a dormitory in the restaurant hall. The group of 61 strangers had already shrunk to about 50 people on Monday morning, like them “The New York Times” mentioned. Some left the camp despite the weather warning. Partly because they have young children or because of medical problems.
A snowplow finally moved through the area on Monday at lunchtime. Most of the people stranded in the pub were able to start their winter journey home. The cover band also left the pub on Monday evening.
Have fun with karaoke and pub quizzes
“It was like a party with a big group of friends,” said the owner of the house, describing the atmosphere during the three days. It was a great experience, everything went really well. “The guests we received could not have been better chosen.”
Townsend was surprised by how well the trapped were in agreement. “There were no small groups, everyone was talking to everyone, everyone was friendly with each other, it was just a feeling of warmth,” Townsend summed up.
To pass the time, these stranded people played quizzes in the pub, movies like “Grease” and “Mamma Mia!” Watch and sing karaoke. (European Union)
