Willinger flies third in Visla

Eight days after the Four Hills Championships ended, Andreas Wellinger also jumped on the podium at the Ski Jumping World Cup in Wisła, Poland. The Olympic champion from Ruhpolding finished third in the Adam Males ski jump on Sunday, the seventh podium finish for the Tour runner-up in the 13th competition of the season.

Tour champion Ryoyu Kobayashi (JP) took his first win of the season (269.4 points) with a dream flight over 139.5 meters in the second round ahead of World Cup leader Stefan Kraft (264.3) and Wellinger who was at 131.0 and 128.5 meters (262.4) came back. The same three jumpers were on the podium as at the Four Hills Championships.

In the first individual competition of the PolSKI Tour, Karl Geiger (Oberstdorf) showed increasing form with a 10th place finish and became the second best German. Stefan Leahy (Willingen), who finished third with Willinger in Saturday's “Super Team” competition, impressed with 12th place, while Pius Paschke (Kieversfelden) came in 17th.

Philipp Raymond (Oberstdorf), who was eighth after the first round, dropped to 30th with a weak second jump. Konstantin Schmid (Oberdorf), who returned to the World Cup squad after a good performance, was the only one to exit the first round in 32nd place.

The Poland tour will continue with an individual competition in Szczerk the following Wednesday and finally two competitions (group and individual) in Zakopane (20/21 January).
