During the Whitsun Holidays, the Karlsruhe transportation company will carry out more construction procedures in the city area. The track system is being revamped at Karl-Wilhelm-Platz in Oststadt, while work on the joint solution enters the next stage in Karlstor.
The VBK revamped the Karl-Wilhelm-Platz track system
In Karl-Wilhelm-Platz in Oststadt, the VBK will renew the track system between Tuesday 25 May and Monday 7 June 2021. Meanwhile, the municipal civil engineering department is carrying out a construction project in Haid-und-Neu-Straße. During this time Tram lines 4, 5, 6 and S2 will be diverted.
The stations at Karl-Wilhelm-Platz and Hauptfriedhof (Haid-und-Neu-Straße) cannot be operated during construction work. For lane work on Karl-Wilhelm-Platz, this intersection must also be completely closed to motor vehicle traffic.
A local guide sign for road users will be placed. Bicycle and pedestrian traffic will be preserved in this area.
Karlstor: The next phase of the compound solution begins
In the West City Center, work on a joint solution enters the next stage in Karlstor. During the completion of the motorway tunnel (Kriegsstraße), the section between Europaplatz and Mathystraße will remain closed to rail traffic.
You will be notified of Tram lines 2, 3, 4 and 6 in this area.
Information: A flyer for VBK building site is available
This 20-page construction site flyer provides more information about VBK construction work during the Whitsun Holidays and changes caused by rail traffic. This is available at the Karlsruher Verkehrsverbund (KVV) customer centers as well as on trams and light rail. It is also available for download on the KVV homepage at kvv.de.
Further construction measures will be taken by the VBK this year in the summer months in the Waldstadt / European School district and in the department Ebertstaße – Main Station – Rueppurrer Tor. VBK will separately inform you about this.
