The top 12 players from Europe and the United States usually meet every two years as alternate hosts. The tournament originally scheduled for 2020 at Whistling Straits Golf Course on Lake Michigan has been postponed by a year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
This is how the tournament works:
- All 28 matches are played as a match on a round (man vs. man or team of two vs. team of two). There is one point for a win and half a point for a tie.
- On Friday and Saturday there will be four balls and four quad doubles. In Fourball, both golfers play their ball in a team of two; Calculates the best score for each hole.
- In a quartet, players in a team of two alternately hit the same ball, and a total of 16 doubles is played.
- On Sunday, 12 individuals completed the competition.
Holes won or lost are recorded. On each team, the captain decides which eight players to use in doubles.
