Leah D. * († 65) Killed by a grizzly bear in Owando, Montana, USA. At midnight on Tuesday she was surprised by the beast. The 65-year-old bear was dragged out of the tent while she slept.
The other camps were able to chase the 180kg animal with a bear spray, but Lea De did not escape the attack. Particularly tragic: the 65-year-old was riding a bicycle with his sister on the road. Leah slept with her partner in a tent next to T, and the bear flew away.
The bear had already walked around the tents
The animal had already arrived around the holiday makers ’tents at 3am. As a precautionary measure, Leah D., her sister and her partner then took all the food items from where they slept and stored them safely outside.
Within an hour the animal came back and tore Leah D out of her tent. Rescue workers arrived by helicopter when the bear was already frightened. They tried to revive the 65-year-old – without success.
Earlier, the bear reportedly entered a chicken coop in Owando and swallowed several birds. The animal was searched by helicopter, but could not be found. Game Rangers say the bear should be killed if found.
