Dominic Thiem starts the US Open against Spain’s Pablo Carreno Busta. This was the result of the Grand Slam draw in New York starting next Monday. The 31-year-old Iberian seed seed is No. 12 at Flushing Meadows. Tim, who won the US Open two years ago, can start the main competition thanks to a wildcard.

Carreno Busta was a semi-finalist in 2020, losing last year in the first round. Face to face speaking on behalf of Tim. It’s 7-0 in head-to-head duels, most recently the Lower Austrian winning the ATP Championships in Vienna Stadthalle in the 2019 quarter-finals. Carreno Busta had to surrender 0-5 due to back problems from a point of view. The two pros also met at the US Open, in 2016, Tim won four sets in the round of 16. Carreno Busta is currently 14th in the ATP ranking.
In addition to Tim, Dennis Novak and Sebastian Offner still have a chance at the Grand Slam tournament. Novak beat Czech Dalibor Sfertina 6-2, 6-3 in the second round of qualifying on Thursday. Offner will meet Russian Pavel Kotov on Thursday and play for a place in the third round. But for Misolek, the US Open is already over. The 21-year-old lost his second match in the qualifiers against French Corentin Mute 2-6, 4-6.

Defending champion Daniil Medvedev will meet American Stefan Kozlov in his first round match. Second seed Rafael Nadal will start facing Australian wildcard Rinke Hijikata.
