According to unconfirmed reports, installation on Windows 11 22H2 failed for some users with error code 0x800f0806. However, the problem can be avoided by using a workaround.
Microsoft these days released the second feature update for Windows 11 with ID 22H2 (“Swiss IT Magazine” mentioned). As various user reviews suggest, the upgrade process does not go as smoothly everywhere as “Neowin”. Reports. There are various reports of failed upgrades that resulted in the error code “0x800f0806”. Bad behavior should only appear with in-place upgrades, as the update is configured via Windows Update Settings.
There seems to be a solution: according to one Reddit user Windows 11 22H2 can still be installed if in-place upgrades fail if the update from the Microsoft Update Catalog was previously downloaded and then installed manually. Another user reported that the installation via Windows 11 Install Assistant should also go smoothly.
