Elon Musk’s employees are on the run.
#StopToxicTwitter! As activists pass critical messages on the Twitter building in San Francisco, chaos rages inside.
Following an ultimatum from Twitter’s new owner Elon Musk (51) to zealously commit to work or be fired, the SMS employee exodus has continued.
“I may be exceptional, but I’m not hardcore,” employee Andrea Horst wrote on Twitter on Thursday, referring to Musk’s declaration that the company had to be “super tough” to compete.
This is what Musk is asking
Musk wrote in a memo to his staff on Wednesday that employees should be prepared for “long, high-intensity workdays”: “Only exceptional performance is sufficient.”
He gave employees a deadline of Thursday afternoon (local time) to make a similar commitment to working online. Anyone who fails to do so will be fired with three months’ salary as severance pay.
Stupidly, important employees also run away, as reported by the “Platformer” portal. For example, the team that was supposed to implement the new blue flag quit.
From dream job to termination
Words fail to express how grateful she is for her “dream job” on Twitter, another outgoing CEO, Diana Haynes Glasgow, wrote Thursday. “It’s been a wild ride.” Layoffs must come in droves.
According to Zoe Schiffer of Platformer, Twitter management told employees that the offices are temporarily closed on Thursday and cannot be accessed even with the electronic door open. Even the old employees fear for the survival of the social network.
Musk acquired Twitter for $44 billion at the end of October and immediately shot upstairs. After a week, he fired about half of the 7,500 employees.
Chaotic takeover
Mask’s restructuring of the SMS service is very messy. It was just on Tuesday that the world’s richest person delayed the new blue verification code sign-up model until the end of November.
He was responding to a torrent of fake Twitter profiles. Many major companies have stopped advertising on the network due to concerns about the development of Twitter.
The Twitter mess is so bad that even the competition is worried: “tbh we love twitter 😢” (“Honestly, we love Twitter”) writes Instagram, which belongs to the Facebook empire. (AFP/Cry)
