Linda Elsiner (20) did it! On Sunday evening, the student from Seewen SZ sang her way to the finale of “The Voice of Germany”. With 51.8 percent of the audience vote, she beat her opponent Sasha Salvati (36) from Coach Elif’s team (28).
When presenter Melissa Khelj, 32, announced her name, she broke all the levees at Elsener. The student started crying out of joy. Schwitterin couldn’t believe the finals at first and was speechless. “I didn’t expect it. Mainly because I wasn’t particularly satisfied with my performance yesterday and it really delivered Sasha,” she told Blake after the semi-finals. I was completely shocked and still needed time to absorb it all.
“I was already on the plane back to Switzerland with my thoughts”
When I stood on the stage and waited for the result, she was done. “My heart was pounding, but my thoughts were already on the plane back to Switzerland,” she reveals. Now her stay in Berlin has been extended. Which pleased her coach Elif (28). Because Linda Elsner not only charmed the audience with her semi-final performance of Tom Petty’s (1950-2017) “Free Fall”.
Immediately after the performance, Elif exclaimed: “Linda, great to see you again here on the big stage.” She had a whim she was looking for. “Whenever you sing, you sing from the heart. And you can just feel it. “I get goosebumps every time,” says Elif. As praised by Nico Santos (28), “You can always hear right away from all the other sounds.”
“You can always be immediately heard from all other voices”
She can prove her talent again next Sunday. Then, Linda Elsner had the chance to win for Switzerland for the second time after last year’s winner Paola Dalla Corte (20). She doesn’t have much time to get ready. “It’s still going today and we’ve been training all week,” she says. Elsner is really looking forward to the final, but she also respects it a lot. “I have to empty my last reserves of energy again because I think the final will be more meaningful than the semi-final,” the student said.
She doesn’t know yet what songs she will sing. But: “My goal is to impress people and deal with them in my simple style.” It is especially important for her to remain in her position and do what she wants: “How the result will then be of secondary importance.”
The finale of “The Voice of Germany” can be seen on Sunday at 8:15 pm on Saturday 1.
