Washington According to a media report, the US government is considering sending multiple long-range missile launchers to Ukraine. CNN reported Thursday, citing several officials, that the US-made MLRS and HIMARS artillery systems can fire missiles hundreds of kilometers away. A new military aid package could be announced as early as next week. She said Ukraine had requested these types of weapons. However, the US government has been reluctant over concerns that Ukraine might use the missile systems to launch attacks on Russian soil. The question arises whether this could lead to a Russian retaliation, according to CNN. US President Joe Biden put into effect a new €1 billion US aid package to Ukraine worth nearly $40 billion (€38 billion) over the weekend. About half of the total amount of the package goes to defense. Of this amount, $6 billion was allocated for direct military assistance to Ukraine. Billions more will be used, among other things, to replenish the US stockpile of military equipment sent to Ukraine. The US government has previously launched several large packages of support for Ukraine.
