The middle class Alder Lake beats the Ryzen 5000 in the single core of Cinebench

from Norman Wittkoff
According to leaked benchmarks, Intel’s upcoming mid-range Core i5-12400 could hold up well against AMD’s competition.

Intel’s Core i5-12400 is an upcoming mid-range processor based entirely on the Golden Cove architecture and smaller design CPU cores will not be activated to save power, but only larger performance cores. The processor’s first benchmark scores in three benchmarks are now available from China via social media platform Bilibili, namely CPU-Z, AIDA64 and Cinebench R20.

Although some information about the CPU name is hidden, it is still clear that it is the i5-12400. According to the CPU-Z screen, the CPU has a maximum single-core boost up to 4.4GHz and a multi-core boost up to 4.0GHz. It scored 681.7 points in the single-threaded test and 4983.8 points in the multi-threaded test, better than the AMD Ryzen 7 2700X with 8 cores and 16 threads.

Alder Lake-S: The release is approaching

Intel will officially unveil its new Alder Lake processors in late October and reportedly release unlocked K-series CPUs on November 4th, including the i9-12900K, i7-12700K, and i5-12600K. It is still not clear whether “regular” models, such as the Core i5-12400, or at a different date will be next. The previous generation Core i5-11400 has an MSRP of $182, although it remains to be seen if Intel will orient itself towards that in view of performance.
