The man clung to a log for nearly 24 hours.
He was alone in a small boat when a sudden wave came. And in Australia suddenly one person (31) had to fight for his life. For almost 24 hours he stuck a piece of wood to his boat. Then he can be saved. And he was incredibly lucky. Where he capsized, there are plenty of sharks and crocodiles.
He was found and rescued on Wednesday in the Torres Strait, about two kilometers from the overturned boat, according to rescuers.
According to the Maritime Safety Authority, she took off from Ketulai Island on the northern tip of Australia on Tuesday, but did not reach her destination as planned. An aerial search was initially unsuccessful on Tuesday evening.
“It’s unbelievable that he survived.”
That same evening, a search party from the Queensland Marine Police went out. The search operation was called off due to bad weather. The man was finally found on Wednesday morning.
“It’s unbelievable that he survived,” Jupiter Island station chief Anthony Moynihan told ABC News. At the same time, this is a good example of not going out on the water unprepared. “He had no safety equipment on board, no emergency beacons, no flares.” It was a “Christmas miracle” that he still managed to survive.
