Nobody expected it: Elon Musk (50) breaks a record in the fourth quarter – and how! US electric car maker Tesla has delivered 308,600 vehicles in the past three months. Analysts expected only 263,000 cars. In the full year, Tesla made 936,000 good deliveries, an 87 percent increase over 2020.
The leader in car electrification wants to maintain an annual increase in deliveries of at least 50 percent over the long term. The new factories in Gruenheide near Berlin and Texas must create the capacity for it.
Model 3 and Model Y compact cars continue to be the foundation of Tesla’s business. Of those models, nearly 297,000 vehicles were delivered last quarter and a good 911,000 throughout the year, Tesla announced Sunday. The more expensive and larger Model S and Model X, which were revamped last year, make up the rest. (NEM/SDA)
