Happy evening at a restaurant among friends. Finally, one pays the total bill and places an order on Twint for anyone else who quickly pays their share. The circle of people using Twint is now likely to increase a bit.
Swissquote also offers its own Twint app. The Swissquote app is well known for its trading platform. Until now it has not been possible to pay with a Swissquote account via smartphone.
Required operating system
The new app will be available starting Wednesday, August 9. It should be free for all electronic trading account holders with Swissquote. Another prerequisite is a smartphone with iOS, version 13.0 and later, or Android, version 7 and later, with Bluetooth technology.
So far, people who have a bank account with one of about twenty Swiss banks or use the TWINT prepaid app across 25 other banks can use Twint. (Louie)
This is how mobile payment works on Twint
If you want to make contactless purchases using your smartphone, you need a payment app. For example: Apple Pay. One double click and it is paid. It takes a little longer with the Twint app or the respective home bank app. Via the app, users can also transfer money back and forth within the family circle or with other people. To do this, users must connect Twint to their bank account or credit card (depending on the provider). A prerequisite for a smartphone is iOS (from iPhone 5 and iOS 10) or Android (from version 5) and Bluetooth functionality (from version 4.0). When you check out with a Twint beacon or station, you open the mobile app, tap Pay Now – Bluetooth and location service must be activated – and keep the smartphone outside for a while. If there is no beacon or terminal, you have to open the Twint app and tap the QR icon. Then point the cell phone camera at the QR code on exit or screen. After successful payment there is a confirmation in the application. Payments made via the app are charged directly from the bank account or credit card.
