Promotion favorite Kloten is more effective in the junior Zurich derby than he was in the first game. At the Oerlikon synthetic ice rink – the actual home of the GCK Lions is currently being renovated in Küsnacht – coach Jeff Tomlinson’s side leads 3-0 after the first period and will have no problem afterwards. Dario Mayer distinguished himself as a double scorer in the 6-1 win.
Olten, Kloten’s strongest competitor, will have to fight a little more aggressively. Despite his clear control of the field, Solothurn was only 3-2 ahead at Sierre with five and a half minutes to go before Sylvain Weiss scored the fourth for a more calm and decided match.
La Chaux-de-Fonds wins in second overtime
The supposedly most balanced series between Thurgau, who came in fourth in the playoffs, and Langenthal, who came in fifth, was surprisingly one-sided. After winning 4-1 at home, the Swiss team also won in Oberargau with the same score.
The favorite could also prevail in the fourth playoff round. But the victory at La Chaux-de-Fonds turned into a victory in action, including overtime. Only in the 98th minute (!) – before the second half of overtime – Julien Breve scored to make it 4:3.
