Steam Deck postponed: Valve’s Handheld is no longer released this year

Valve pre-orders are currently receiving notifications that the Steam Deck release has been delayed by two months. Originally, pre-orders were supposed to hold the mobile in their hands this year. The global chip shortage is the reason for the delay.

Valve claims that it tried to circumvent issues with global supply chains, but ultimately failed and some components were not available. Valve does not go into details in the email that Steam Deck components are specifically responsible for delays. As a result, the company is no longer able to meet the initial issuance period. All pre-orders are delayed by 2 months
