Starlink satellites seen
Elon Musk stuns Switzerland
A string of lights in the sky stunned Switzerland on Saturday evening. These are Elon Musk’s Starlink satellites.
A strange flying object can currently be seen in the Swiss sky. A string of lights, arranged in a straight line, hovered over the heads of readers’ reporters: “I’ve never seen anything like this before!” , “What is it?” “There’s something incredibly weird going on out there,” are just a few of the reports arriving in Blick’s editorial office from Basel, Zurich, Bern and elsewhere on Saturday evening. Some write: “These are satellites.”
Readers are right. What can be seen in the sky are the so-called Starlink satellites from the private space company SpaceX. This belongs to Elon Musk (51). At regular intervals, he launches satellites into space with the aim of providing the Earth with fast and cheap internet.
Especially in areas that did not have cable connections previously – which is the case in large parts of Africa or ships on the high seas. To achieve this, satellites fly in a much lower orbit than regular satellites, which results in shorter transmission times.
Satellites continue to fly over Switzerland. It often causes surprise. Especially on clear nights like today, when they are especially easy to see. (From)
