A lion that escaped from a circus caused a stir in the Italian coastal city of Ladispoli.
The predator was roaming the streets of the small town north of Rome.
City Mayor Alessandro Grando urged residents to be “extremely careful.”
Italian news agency ANSA reported that the animal has now been captured.
The police, in cooperation with circus employees, tried to catch the lion again, but to no avail at first. “The arrest was carried out by circus employees, supported by the police, who were immediately on the scene,” Alessandro Grando, the mayor of Ladispoli, initially said on Facebook.

Several videos have been circulating online that appear to show the animal strutting through the streets. Some residents appeared to be temporarily stuck in their cars. The animal was later spotted in a reed belt near Ladispoli and captured again.
