Eve provided the first firmware updates for three of its smart home devices so you can control them using the new Matter standard. Updates are available for power, motion, doors and window. However, if you want to download updates, you must enroll in the Eve Early Access program.
To install firmware updates, users need an iOS device with at least version 16.2. The new version of the iPhone operating system is not yet available in the final version – but it is expected to be in the short term. The thread border router being used—a second- or third-generation thread-enabled Apple TV 4K or HomePod mini—must also be running OS version 16.2. The matter was officially completed in early October.
Initially with limitations
According to Eve, Eve currently supports Apple’s home platform and Samsung SmartThings. Support for Google Home and Amazon Alexa is said to be in the works.
Following the updates, the expanded functionality of the smart socket, motion detector, and door and window contacts is also offered via the new Matter smart home standard. However, Eve points out that the promotion cannot be undone. Features such as energy metering, historical data, and standalone tables are not initially available on all platforms.
This is how it goes
Updates can be downloaded via the Eve app. Eve has announced that it will be adding Matter support to all of its Thread-enabled products. However, there is no exact timeline.
