Sleeping on board: one bed for all business jets

Business jets are constantly flying – so solutions are needed on how to sleep well on the plane. Company found a way.

The business jet sector is booming. By 2032 alone, about 8,500 new business jets could be delivered worth $274 billion, the airline Honeywell predicts in its Global Business Aviation Outlook. The long-haul segment in particular is growing, because modern long-haul business jets achieve greater ranges than ever before.

The Bombardier Global 8000, for example, runs 14,600 km, the Gulfstream G650 ER 13,000 km. And since comfort is such a big issue with these planes in particular, there should be no compromises when sleeping in machines. However, more often than not, there is still a lack of true family in ultra-luxury jets.

Two stools make up the bed

The prevailing solution at the moment is club seating – comfortable chairs in which you can sit facing each other. But Primadonna, a company that specializes in luxury aircraft interiors, thinks something can be done. The company provided a solution to convert two club seats into a bed.

The system is called “Prima Lux Flex Frame Mattress”. It consists of three elements: a chair that fits between two individual club or conference seats, and various bedding elements. Together they make the bed. The system is available for single and double beds.

No certification necessary

According to the manufacturer, assembly is quick and easy. The system should be suitable for most large and mid-size business jets from Bombardier, Dassault, Embraer and Gulfstream. Big advantage: It doesn’t have to be specially certified to be able to use it on board.

Components are stored in compression bags specifically designed for each operator. If you want to go a step further, you can also buy matching bed linen from Primadonna.
