Singer Perrie Edwards wanted to remove freckles with acid

This is the thing about growth. British pop singer Perrie Edwards knows this, too.

The 29-year-old did not have an easy time as a teenager. She was not happy with anything but her body.

The singer reported on exactly this bad time in an interview with England’s Grazia. “I asked my mother if I could get an acid peel to get rid of my freckles,” says Edwards.

“When I was younger, I was a little insecure. I hated my freckles.” The Little Mix singer was “very sick and dull” as a young girl.

“I had dark circles under my eyes, I was really skinny and I had a huge scar on my stomach from my surgeries. I hated everything about me.”

Edwards continued, “People bullied me. And I think I got it. Everyone criticized me. And that made me self-critical.”

Over the years, self-critical views have changed. “I think self-confidence and self-empowerment comes with age,” Perrie Edwards says today.

“You learn not to care what other people think.”
