Millions of people are charmed by “Three Hazelnuts for Cinderella” every year around Christmas time. Now the classic fairy tale from 1973 has been filmed again. In the main role: Norwegian pop singer Astrid Semplas, pseudonym Astrid S (25), who can be unruly at her concerts. Astrid S began her career in 2013 when she won the Norwegian version of the talent show “Deutschland sucht den Superstar” at the age of 16.
The Original is one of her favorite films, says Simplas and admits, “I was a little shocked to find out that a remake of the movie was planned.” She just wanted to audition for the role because it would be a “good experience” for her. “I couldn’t believe they would choose me.” When she was accepted, Smeplass initially thought something was wrong, as she had never acted before. In her film debut, she had to learn to ride and shoot with a bow.
Cinderella suffers from an angry stepmother
The remake of “Tre nøtter til Askepott” takes place in a snow-covered wonderland. There, the poor but equally beautiful maid meets the sensitive prince, played by Genghis Al (24). Cinderella, who is harassed by his stepmother at home, taught the prince to ride better. The young woman later meets him at a ball, and in the end actually manages to escape from her wicked stepmother and finds happiness in the arms of the curly-haired prince.
The remake, directed by Cecily Moseley (48), is more modern than the original with the memorable Lepus Safrankova (1953-2021) in the title role, Simplas explains. “Being lucky does not mean finding and marrying a great man. The movie is about how Cinderella fights for his rights. The young woman wants to live the life she wants and be free from her stepmother.”
Smeplass doesn’t know if the movie can meet the high expectations. Before that, it was always said that the original should not be tampered with. The feedback is now very good. “Nice to see.”
