London. British prosecutors have widened the sexual assault charges against Hollywood star Kevin Spacey. Rosemary Ainslie of the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) in London said on Wednesday that charges had been accepted in a further seven cases. All the allegations were made by a single man, and the alleged offenses took place between 2001 and 2004.

Ainslie said London police had previously reviewed evidence collected as part of their investigation. In one case, he was accused of forcing a man to engage in a “penetrative sexual act”.
At the end of May, Spacey was already charged in England with sexual assault against three men between 2005 and 2013. The two-time Oscar winner (“American Beauty”) denied the charges in court in July.

A US jury acquitted Spacey in October
In another court case, the 63-year-old recently scored a victory: In October in New York, a US jury unanimously acquitted actor Anthony Rapp of physically assaulting and sexually assaulting him. Rapp’s allegations, which were first made public in 2017 during the “MeToo” debate, led to several indictments and rocked Spacey’s successful career.
The jury’s decision in New York provides a glimpse into how the charges against Spacey will proceed overall, said his defense attorney, Jennifer Keller.
