Set Edge Security Mode via Registry – PC-WORLD

If you scroll down in the Microsoft Edge browser under “Settings -> Privacy, Search & Services,” you will find the “Security” section and the “Improve security on the web” option. However, this option is not active by default. By simply clicking on the switch on the right, you protect yourself from a host of hacker attack techniques that aim to take control of your computer when you visit a designed website.

The security option gives you two settings “Balanced” and “Strict” to choose from, Microsoft recommends “Balanced”. While Strict provides a higher level of protection, this setting may prevent some websites from working as intended.

It is better if you activate the option, set it to “Balanced” and then do not touch it again. To prevent another user from disabling protection on their computer, you can install this setting in the registry.

Microsoft Edge offers advanced security settings. To prevent disablement, install it in the Windows registry.

Store in the log:

Open the Start menu and type regedit in the search box to open the Registry Editor. Go to the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft folder. Select the “Edge” subfolder and click in the right window of the editor. Then select “New -> DWORD Value (32-bit)” and give the new value the name “EnhanceSecurityMode”. Double-click on the value and enter 1 to lock the default value.

Using “0” will disable Enhanced Security Mode. If you enter “2”, you can switch to the “strict” security level. Finally, confirm the new setting with “OK” and activate it by restarting Windows.
