Servet loses the first match in the group stage of the European League against Slavia Prague 0-2. The Genevans acted with much less clarity than the efficient Czechs.

Servet’s debut in the Europa League brought the fans to a rally. About 20,000 fans flocked to Geneva Stadium on Thursday evening, far more than in a daily Premier League match. However, René Weiler’s team was unable to send the audience into the rainy Geneva night with a sense of accomplishment.
After half an hour, the start in the Granat defense line was wrong for the first time. After an insufficient clearance, the ball reached Lucas Masopust, who beat Jeremy Frick in the Geneva goal with a powerful shot. The goalkeeper returned to the European arena after missing seven matches due to the injury he suffered in the qualifying match against Genk.
Back at the beginning of August, the courage shown by Servet was key to the coup that enabled them to participate in the Europa League group stage for the first time. However, there was little to see against Slavia Prague. On the contrary: the Czech team, which reached the quarter-finals of this competition in 2021, increased after an hour. Masopust was back in origin. After extending a header, his corner found the head of Ejoh Ogbo, who was able to head home relatively uncontested.
Now we go to Rome
It robbed the Geneva side, who have only managed to win one of six matches in the Premier League season so far, of their last breath to score a point against the more subdued Czechs. At the beginning of October, Servet will play away to Roma, who scored their first three points away to Sheriff Tiraspol. After an unsuccessful start, a point at Rome’s ancient Stadio Olimpico could be the gold medal for the Servetians.
