Samsung TVs are getting AirPlay support
Anyone who travels a lot for work and spends the nights in hotel rooms knows the scenario: despite having a large TV mounted on the wall, you often end up in front of your laptop or even your smartphone. Connecting your laptop or cell phone to the TV is often complicated. Now Samsung has announced a new feature for its TVs that will benefit iPhone owners.
According to a press release from the Korean company, all upcoming Samsung Hospitality TVs sold to hotels, hospitals and other facilities now offer support for Apple's AirPlay. The link is created by scanning the QR code displayed on the TV. This should enable a private and secure connection from your iPhone or iPad to your Samsung Hospitality TV.
Privacy is protected
No personal data is shared between devices. Device information for connected smartphones or tablets is also automatically deleted when the guest leaves the property. This is to ensure maximum protection of user privacy.
“Samsung is committed to creating a robust, connected ecosystem that improves convenience, ease of use and the overall guest experience,” said Hoon Chung, executive vice president of Samsung’s Visual Display Business. “AirPlay allows iPhone and iPad users to share their favorite content on the big screen in their hotel room, making their temporary hotel stay feel like home.”
MacBook support uncertain
In fact, AirPlay support makes watching series and movies via streaming services, using personal playlists on different music platforms or playing on the TV in the room more convenient. Unfortunately, support for MacBooks was not mentioned in the announcement. It's not sure whether using the TV as a second screen for work would be easier.
