He is one of the most prominent German chefs. Jan Hartwig reached third place in the OAD ranking with his restaurant Jan in Munich. In front of him is a restaurant in Denmark and another in Spain. Andreas Caminada from Switzerland is also in the top ten.
Another leaderboard? Having been awarded Michelin stars and selected as the “50 Best Restaurants” in the world, Another Best List invites you to Madrid to present its list of the best restaurants in Europe. Opinionated About Dining (OAD) magazine has published its current ranking of the best restaurants in Europe. With the three-star rating, Jan by Jan Hartwig is the first restaurant in Germany to reach the top three. As last year, first place went to the Danish chemist, followed by Basque chemist Asador Etxebarri in second place. OAD honors Norbert Niedlerkofler's Atelier Moessmer in Bruneck (63rd) in South Tyrol as “Best New Opening”.
What is the benefit of this list?
OAD was founded in 2004 by New York foodie Steve Plotnicki. It started as a blog and has grown into a cooking forum. More than 8,000 registered users vote on the list.
The best places in German-speaking countries
At number 16, the Ernst Dylan Watson Brown Hotel in Berlin, which will only be open until the end of 2024, makes the list this year (2023/23). For Germany, the fandom of Joachim Fässler in Bergisch Gladbach remains consistently represented in 47th place (46/2023) and the Isegbratlen of Yves Olich and Andre Kothe in Nuremberg in 64th place (49/2023).
In Switzerland, “SchlossScchauenstein” by Marcel Skiba and Andreas Caminada remains in sixth place, as was the case the previous year, followed by “Memories in Bad Ragaz” by Sven Wasmer, which rises to 12th place in 2024 (50/2023).
The Vienna Steyreck restaurant from Birgitte & Heinz Reitbauer remains the best-placed restaurant in Austria at 40th place (39/2023), while Amador restaurant in Vienna improved to 62nd place (67/2023).
