Renovation work: Hamburg threatens traffic chaos | morgenpost hamburger

New traffic chaos in Hamburg! The Tudor-Heuss-Platz junction has been built in the Damtordamm and Alsterglases district since March 2021. This aims to improve traffic operations and traffic safety. Construction is scheduled to be completed at the beginning of August. Before that, there will be large-scale shutdowns.

In the past, red light violations occurred repeatedly before the Damtordam confluence at Theodor-Heus-Platz, because the red light for cyclists was either ignored or could not be seen clearly enough, especially by cyclists turning to the right. Diversion measures aim to prevent this in the future and thus increase traffic safety at the busy intersection.

Due to renovations: closures in the areas of Alsterglacis, Theodor-Heuss-Platz and Dammtordamm

Before planning can be completed, large-scale asphalt work must be carried out in the areas of Alsterglacis, Theodor-Heuss-Platz and Dammtordamm. Therefore, the following traffic restrictions will apply over the next three weekends:

Ban 1: Friday, July 16, 2021, from 7 a.m. to Monday, July 19, 2021, at 5 a.m.
At the intersection of Theodor-Heuss-Platz, Mittelweg is completely closed. The streets Alsterglacis – Theodor-Heuss-Platz – Edmund-Siemers-Allee remain open in both directions, but with lower lanes. Entry to Dammtordamm should only be possible from the direction Edmund-Siemers-Allee / Rothenbaumchaussee – Theodor-Heuss-Platz.

Ban 2: Friday, July 23, 2021, 7 a.m. to Monday, July 26, 2021, 5 a.m.
The entrance to Mittelweg will open from the direction Edmund-Siemers-Allee – Theodor-Heuss-Platz and from Alsterglacis. Departure from the middle lane remains possible as usual. However, the number of lanes on the streets of Alsterglacis – Theodor-Heuss-Platz – Edmund-Siemers-Allee will be reduced. Entry into Damtordam is possible as usual, but exit from Damtordam is closed to private traffic.

Ban 3: Friday, July 30, 2021 from 7 a.m. to Monday, August 2, 2021 at 5 a.m.
The Mittelweg exit will be closed at the Theodor-Heuss-Platz junction. The Alsterglacis – Theodor-Heuss-Platz – Edmund-Siemers-Allee lanes will remain open in both directions, but the number of lanes will be reduced. Damtordam is completely closed. (a lamp)
