Queen Margaret II publicly apologized to her family.
Denmark’s Queen Margrethe II (82) has expressed her regret at the disappointment of her son, Prince Joachim (53), after his four sons lost their titles as princes and princesses. “I made my decision as a queen, mother and grandmother, but as a mother and grandmother I underestimated the impact of my young son and his family,” the king said in a personal statement on Monday evening.
Then Margaret began to apologise: “You made a great impression, and I am sorry. No one should doubt that my children, my stepchildren and my great-grandchildren are my great joy and pride.”
Margaret II wants to make the royal house contemporary
The Danish royal family announced on Wednesday that Margaret has decided that the four children of Prince Joachim should only bear the titles of Count or Countess of Monpezate from January 1, 2023. Then Joachim was disappointed that his children would lose the titles of prince or princess. The film revolves around the children of Joachim Nikolai (23 years old) and Felix (20 years old) with his ex-wife, Countess Alexandra (58), Henrik (13 years old) and Athena (10) with his wife Princess Mary (46).
Margaret has now made it clear that now that she is on the throne 50 years, it is only natural to look back as well as forward. “It is my duty and my wish as a queen to ensure the continuity of the monarchy in modernity.” Sometimes this requires tough decisions and it will always be difficult to find the right moment.
