Much of Twitter’s advertising revenue comes from doing business with companies that want to get tweets about their products in users’ news feed for a fee. Twitter sees fewer problems with this, for example, Facebook in the new data protection rules on the iPhone. Apple gives iPhone users the ability to stop tracking their activity across different apps and websites. Facebook, which relies more on personal ads, has criticized this heavily.
New Features and Cryptocurrencies
Twitter launched its first jobs only for subscription customers in June, initially only in Australia and Canada — and in a conference call with analysts, company president Jack Dorsey initially offered no information about when it might be introduced in other countries. First of all, they want to gain experience in the first two markets. One of the subscription functions is that users can edit the finished tweets for 30 seconds.
Dorsey announced that Twitter will be testing more new functionality — and if it doesn’t work, cancel it too. The service recently squashed tweets that disappeared on their own last year.
The head of Twitter has also shown an interest in the digital currency Bitcoin. He said that it could become a kind of global Internet currency and facilitate transactions on Twitter.
