The open source project management software OpenProject was released in version 12.2: File management with Nextcloud is now integrated into project management. In addition, this release introduces improvements in project planning and operation.
Previously, OpenProject was already integrated into the Nextcloud dashboard and search, but now Nextcloud files and folders can also be linked to and viewed in OpenProject work packages. To do this, users can access their Nextcloud environment from OpenProject to add the link to the work package from there. As a result, the associated Nextcloud files in OpenProject can now be found directly in the respective work package. They appear with the local files attached to the workpack under the OpenProject Files tab.
Users can use secondary actions to directly open or download files, view the linked folder in Nextcloud, or remove the link. Also in Nextcloud, the OpenProject tab appears in the file’s detailed view, where users can search for work packages to link to. In one of the following versions, users should be able to link files directly from OpenProject with Nextcloud as well as entire project folders.
Notifications about the consequences of schedule changes
OpenProject has now also added notices about how table changes in one work package affect other packages. It contains important information that has a significant impact on the project schedule and useful but less important information. OpenProject 12.2 also gives administrators the ability to give other users permissions to record a time. More details about the new version are provided by The manufacturer in a press release And the Detailed on Github.
OpenProject 12.2 provides free test instances of OpenProject Enterprise Cloud. Alternatively, OpenProject can also be run in your infrastructure. There is a 14-day free trial code in the community install to upgrade from the community to the enterprise edition. OpenProject can be migrated to version 12.2 via package installation or Docker.
The latest update 12.1.0 brought the Team Planning Module to enterprise customers. OpenProject is an alternative to the popular Jira tool.
