The German national hockey teams ended their long-distance games in the FIH Pro League against Great Britain with a defeat.
The women lost to the Olympic champions London With 0: 2 (0: 2). Anna Doman (23rd minute) and Susannah Downsent (30th) scored for the hosts. The men had previously lost 1: 3 (0: 2) against the English. The consolation goal after the 0-3 deficit was scored by Niklas Wellan in the 58th minute.
“The unfortunate goals agreed upon should be recorded under training,” said men’s national coach Gais al-Saadi. “I’m glad we played very bravely in the second half.” Captain Tobias Hawke complained: “We had no fire and no access to the game in the first half.”
The strongly revived men’s selection was already beaten 3: 5 on Wednesday. World number three is second only to world and European champions Belgium. The women, on the other hand, won their opening fight England 3: 2. However, due to a recent setback after the last two wins, they have moved up from third to fourth in the Pro League table.
