When Prince Harry arrives in England he wants to go to court to get police protection. The Lord of Sussex has called for a judicial review of the government’s decision in London, the British news agency PA reported today. So the Home Office refused to provide police officers for Harry’s protection, although the prince wanted to pay for the operation himself.
“England will always be Prince Harry’s home,” Harry’s lawyers said in a statement. He wants his wife and children to be safe in Great Britain. However, without police protection, the family takes “the greatest personal risk” when moving to Great Britain.
Prince Harry and his wife Megan retired from their royal duties in April 2020 and now live in the United States with their two children. During a visit to the UK last summer, the paparazzi chase after Harry’s car as he leaves a charity event in London. The next day, he and his older brother William unveiled a statue of their mother, Diana, who had died while fleeing the paparazzi in Paris in 1997, in the Kensington Palace garden.
In their statement, Harry’s lawyers point out that in recent years, Harry’s family has faced “well-documented threats from neo-Nazis and extremists.” A UK government spokesman declined to comment on the case. Protections for celebrities in the UK are good and “proportionate”. Could not provide detailed information about this as it would “affect the safety of individuals”.
