With the creation of a cemetery for so-called star babies in the cemetery in Hugstetten, the municipality of Mars has made it possible for parents to bury abortions weighing less than 500 grams if they wish. There is no burial obligation for such a small miscarriage; Before the establishment of the Star Cemetery, there was no way such small miscarriages would be buried in a cemetery in March.

Now the municipal council has decided on fee rates for star cemeteries and at the same time a new regulation for stillbirths and abortions of children from 500 grams, for which there is an obligation to bury. Previously, a basic fee of 500 euros was to be paid for this purpose, plus 350 euros for burial in a row grave. These serious costs remain unchanged, but the basic fee has been halved to 250 euros. It is also required to bury star children. Another 200 Euros due to secure a place in the Star Grave Field. At the same time, it is now possible to bury dead newborns and miscarriages weighing more than 500 grams in star cemeteries, in the same conditions as star babies. However, miscarriages can also be buried in existing family cemeteries.

By 11 votes, the council also decided that a 15-year period could be extended for the use of stillbirths, abortions and for children under 10, after which the fee would be charged again.
