Mourning for Catherine Keats: The actress seen on “Orange is the New Black” has died of cancer. She was 73 years old.

Kathryn Keats has been in front of the camera since the early 80’s. The New Yorker became known primarily as a serial actress. For example, she was seen in “Orange Is the New Black”, but also in successful series such as “Seinfeld”, “Law & Order” or “The Sopranos”.

Now the actress has passed away at the age of 73, according to her agency Instagram announced. “She was always incredibly brave and wise and approached every role with the greatest passion,” the team behind the agency wrote along with a photo of all-faced Katherine Keats.

Barely a series without Catherine Keats

Keats’ acting career began in the 1950s on stage. In the ’80s she finally landed her first small television roles before appearing in the hit formats “Matlock”, “Thunderbot” and “Seinfeld”. She also participated in the series “Lizzie McGuire”, “Judging Army” and “Rescue Me”.

She gained international fame primarily through her role as Amy Kanter-Bloom in the Netflix series Orange Is the New Black. Most recently, she appeared in the crime drama film The Many Saints of Newark in 2021.
