Smartphones – regardless of whether they are entry-level, mid-range or premium models – must have the latest software on board. As a general rule, this not only creates satisfied users, but also provides security if sensitive data is to be processed using the mobile device.
We recommend anyone who buys a smartphone to learn about the manufacturer’s update plans beforehand. Many providers now deal with this more transparently than they did a few years ago. This makes sense, because after all it is a deciding factor when there is certainty about whether and how long a manufacturer will take care of their device before emptying the wallet.
Smartphone manufacturer Oppo is now making the announcement in its press centeran extension of the update policy for the ColorOS operating system running on Oppo smartphones.

Select flagship models in 2023 are set to receive four major Android OS updates and five years of security updates. No specific models have been named, likely to do with premium models expected next year, such as the Find X6, of which a press photo has already appeared.
Oppo recently introduced new foldable smartphones. Models like the Find N2 Flip will also be launched globally. If this Fold also appears here next year, it will probably benefit from the manufacturer’s expanded update policy.
We asked Oppo if existing models like the Find X5 Pro, introduced in 2022, could also benefit from a longer refresh period. The answer is still pending. Once we receive this, we will update the news if necessary.
The latest operating system: ColorOS 13
Oppo ColorOS 13 operating system was introduced in August. Flagships like the Find X5 Pro debuted early with the ColorOS 13 beta. The current update schedule dates the release dates for other models to the first half of 2023.
Like Oppo, the smartphone manufacturer OnePlus is also affiliated with BBK Electronics Group. According to a report, OnePlus also wants to provide security updates for up to five years for select models in the future.
