Alpine skiing: there is no group event in Irene

Switzerland should dispense with Luca Erni in Sunday’s team event. The 2018 Olympic champion traveled early to Garmisch, where a World Cup slalom race is scheduled for next weekend. Switzerland will be represented by Gino Caviezel and Justin Maurizier in the men’s team on Sunday. In the women’s race, one driver from the trio Andrea Ellenberger, Wendy Holder and Camille Rast will have to watch every lap.

Figure skating: Team USA didn’t get a medal

The US figure skating team left the Olympic city of Beijing without silver medals in their luggage. A decision was made by the section dedicated to the International Court of Arbitration for TAS Sports after a two-and-a-half hour hearing, confirming the decision of the IOC executive on Monday. The nine sprinters in the United States had appealed the decision to suspend the presentation of the medal due to the doping scandal involving the Russian sprinter Kamila Valyaeva. The United States placed second behind Russia in the team competition. The IOC announced that it would “organise a medal awarding ceremony once Ms. Valeeva’s case is closed.”
